Embroidery Hoop Art

I found these sweet embroidery hoops on Etsy. I think they're the perfect combination of old fashioned and modern.

The Pitter Patter of...

[one] [two] [three] [four] [five] [six]

Here's a confession. I've spent way more time than is probably necessary thinking about Miss A's first pair of "real" shoes. She has a pair of Robeez, but they're really more like slippers than shoes. Now that she's standing and cruising around, I wanted something that offered a little more support. There are so many choices! Hard or flexible sole? Mary Jane, sneaker, slip on? And what color will go with all her outfits??

Above you'll find some of our top shoe contenders. We ended up going with the silver Pedipeds. I thought the sole was just right. Thicker and more supportive than the Robeez, but still soft and flexible for proper foot development. And I like that the metallic color goes with everything. She'll still be barefoot at home, but these will be nice to have while we're out and about.

What shoes do you like for your little ones?

Animal Prints

You guys. I am DYING over the cuteness of The Animal Print Shop.
Sharon Montrose is an incredible photographer. I love the use of negative space. Also, LOOK AT HOW CUTE THESE BABY ANIMALS ARE. I can't even stand it. A grouping of these photos looks so beautiful in a nursery or playroom.

Beatles Baby

This post was inspired by Miss A's love of music. She likes all kinds, but her number one favorite song is "Hey Jude." If she's really upset, I play that song to call her down. Last night she was a teething, cranky mess. Fourteen minutes of "Hey Jude" later, and she was asleep!

I love the idea of a Beatles themed nursery. In fact, Miss A has this print hanging in hers:
This quote from "Dear Prudence" would also make a cute addition to the nursery.

I found this beautiful Beatles themed nursery via On to Baby.

Those nesting dolls are so unusual and cool. Poor George is the tiniest. He never gets any love.

I'm also loving the idea of a Beatles themed birthday party! Who would not enjoy a Yellow Submarine sandwich? This party would be perfect for the coolest baby on the block.

Happy Weekend!

I hope everyone had a fun Fourth of July. Miss A had blast at the barbecue, and was fast asleep by the time the fireworks started.

What are your plans for the weekend? Unfortunately, the Mr. injured his knee playing basketball. So I will be spending the next few weeks tending to the little baby....and the big one. :)

On a happier note, I've been working on my summer jams playlist. I'll leave you with a few of my recent favorites. Happy weekend, everybody!

Vampire Weekend - Diane Young

Lorde - Royals

The Neighbourhood - Sweater Weather
PS- I guess you can't see the videos on iPhone or iPad. :( Try searching on youtube or Spotify.

Playroom Planning

I'm planning to dedicate some space in the house to become Miss A's playroom. I want it to be a safe little area to organize her multitude of toys, and keep her corralled if I need to take my eyes off her for a minute.

The design that I'm going with is BRIGHT. I love subdued colors for most things, but when it comes to a playroom, I think happy hues are really fun. I love the look of this Dash & Albert striped rug. My other play room essentials include toy storage, a child sized chair, and a play tent that is a perfect little hiding spot.

And what would a playroom be without toys? I think she will love a pretend kitchen down the line, as well as a rocking horse, and a wall chart to learn about the days of the week. The fabric bunting is a cheerful way to tie all the colors together.

So what do you think? Are there any other playroom must haves?

Golden Girls (and boys)

Gold is a trendy color in home decor right now. I love the look of metallic accents in the nursery. It can complement many different color schemes, and is a subtle way to add a little glamour.

This room is just stunning. I love the golden letters, and the butterfly wallpaper is perfection. You can see more of this room here

A little golden fawn adds sophistication to the woodland trend.

Simple and sweet. Love this "Love" print.

These golden polka dot wall decals are perfect for renters.

Naps fix everthing. It's so true.
